Slated to come out some time in late July, the Samsung Galaxy S is a hardware-heavy mobile device intended to bring the latest content and media to users in stunning clarity and vivid colour. The flagship phone deals of Samsung’s “Smart Life” philosophy, designed to fulfill consumer desire for more content, more capability, more services, and more multitasking. Utilising Samsung’s Super AMOLED technology, the Galaxy S has a 4.1” 800×480 screen with mDNIe (mobile Digital Natural Image engine) that provided unequalled colour accuracy and contrast among mobile phones, making the Galaxy S a perfect platform for content delivery and media consumption.
To help you keep in touch with friends the Galaxy S comes with Social Hub. Similar to HTC’s Friend Stream and Motorola’s Motoblur, Social Hub is an application for aggregating social networking information into a single stream. Twitter and Facebook updates, Facebook messages, texts, e-mails, etc. are all gathered into a stream that automatically updates to provide you with the latest information, and with the Galaxy’s updated Twitter interface based on the TouchWiz UI, users have access to a much more intuitive interface for making status updates and checking in on friends. The large screen and on-screen soft key QWERTY keyboard make it easy to compose messages and e-mails, and the prepackaged Swype application allows you to easily type without even lifting your finger from the keypad, speeding up your typing by quite a bit.
Coming to Vodafone UK first, with other network carriers possibly to follow, the Galaxy S will be the most advanced Android mobile device in the UK at the time of its release, and is one of only two Super AMOLED devices to be produced. As a result of all this impressive hardware, the Galaxy S comes with a hefty price tag, estimate to be about £745 before taxes and subsidies, though it appears that with a plan it will only be about £130. Pricing is still unofficial and may be subject to change, however
